  INAUGURATION  -  THE TIME-EYE OF DUBAI

In the frame of the inauguration of the Time-Eye of Dubai His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the UAE as well as President of the Zayed University (middle) and Vice president Dr. Hanif Al-Qassimi (left) handed over a special crystal to Hofstetter Kurt (media artist, director of the Sunpendulum project).
    On the occasion of the permanent installation of the Time-Eye of Dubai at the Zayed University Dubai, the University organized an inauguration and a press conference in close cooperation with the Austrian Embassy Abu Dhabi.

The inauguration event started with welcoming words and a short introduction for the guests of honour, media and journalists by Dr. Dell Felder, Provost of the Zayed University Dubai - MC of the event followed by a statement by Hofstetter Kurt, Director of the Sunpendulum project. His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mabarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the UAE as well as President of the Zayed University is the patron of the Time-Eye of Dubai and he unveiled a commemorative plaque together with Dr. Nikolaus Seiwald, Commercial Counsellor and acting Ambassador of Austria in the UAE.

To provide comprehensive information on the Sunpendulum project, the Sunpendulum video (by Hofstetter Kurt and Barbara Doser) was presented.

His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan and Dr. Hanif Hassan Al-Qassimi, Vice President of the Zayed University, handed over a special crystal to Hofstetter Kurt.

The presence of the UAE Ambassadors of Japan, India and Austria, the Consul of Egypt in Dubai and numerous guests of honour underlined the importance of this event.

Todd DeVriese, Associate Professor, College of Arts & Sciences, presented the view of the ZU participation in the Sunpendulum project. Hofstetter Kurt provided Sunpendulum information in detail and  Dr. Christoph Traxler gave an overview of the current research and evaluation status of the Sunpendulum software.


The official representation of Austria, i.e. the participation of Dr. Nikolaus Seiwald, Commercial Counsellor and acting Ambassador of the Austrian Embassy Abu Dhabi, underlined the importance of the project.

The press conference took 40 minutes and was held in Arabic and English. 
Following the press conference the University gave a lunch sponsored by the Austrian National Tourist Office and Hotel Imperial Vienna.
